TR Program

TR is SemCo™'s one-day, instructor-led web-based training that covers the complete recruiting life cycle and stresses the problems unique to IT recruiters including: finding techies with rare skill sets, screening through resumes that are difficult to read, interviewing people who seem to speak another language, and negotiating with techies by understanding their key desires. The program covers the six basic areas of IT recruiting. Throughout the seminar the RecruitingLinks portal is referenced to show recruiters links to such information as job boards, salary surveys for technical positions, applicant tracking systems, and much more.

Audience:

Participants in this web-based training include new IT recruiters and experienced recruiters who are new to the Information Technology specialty. Experienced recruiters who want to review recruiting technologies, and account managers who interact with technical recruiters also attend.

TR Objectives:

Technical recruiting has its own unique set of problems caused by looking for people who have odd skills with strange-sounding names! IT recruiters have to deal with jobs that are not inherently easy to understand. SemCo™'s technical recruiting curriculum was designed to help IT recruiters work with specific IT jobs and IT professionals. Upon completion of the training, the recruiter will be able to:

  • Use the Internet effectively by knowing where and how to post jobs and search for resumes;
  • Analyze a job requisition;
  • Evaluate a technical resume;
  • Conduct phone interviews and screens, including cold calls;
  • Differentiate between a technical screen and a technical interview;
  • Understand and prepare questions for a technical screen;
  • Conduct a technical screen to qualify a candidate;
  • Interview candidates based upon commonly used methodologies;
  • Win both the candidate and the job requestor/hiring manager's confidence;
  • Evaluate Internet recruiting activity;
  • Build an Internet recruiting plan and revise it;
  • Successfully negotiate with potential technical people by knowing what's important to them.
